An investment of 58 million euros in a striker who made headlines in Liverpool went down the drain, after the team of the billionaire Abramovich checked another season in which it didn't win the most important club competition. Fernando Torres did not find any way towards the goal at Old Trafford in Manchester United's 2-1 victory , backed by the success made by Wayne Rooney on tour in London. Being back in an excellent mood, the Englishman enlightened the host's game, along with the veteran Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick, while Ancelotti has revealed only the band's willingness to change the fate of qualification. Torres was replaced at halftime and fell, apparently in the coach's disgrace, and the one that took place, Didier Drogba, created in half of the match the illusion that Londoners can repeat the feat of last season when they've defeated Manchester with 2-1 for a new title in the Premier League.
The Ivorian's success has come at a delicate moment of the match. Hernandez Chicharito marked before the break for United, and before Drogba equaled, after he cheated the game of the hosts at offside , Ramires has left the team in ten, receiving the second yellow. For things to be cleared, Park Ji-Sung has brought victory for "the devils" a minute after the equalizer goal and this way Manchester continues its adventure for the fourth European triumph, besides the possible success in the Premiership and FA Cup.
"We were the better team tonight, although I must admit that Chelsea made an excellent match. All my men have played great, not just those two bullets, but also Rooney, who again helped us very much, Giggs, with a fantastic control of the ball.", said Sir Alex Ferguson.
After a season basically lost, Carlo Ancelotti blamed on bad luck his team elimination .
"We controlled the game in the first 25 minutes but we failed to score, and after we received that goal in the end of the half, things were very difficult for us. We were back in the game, although we performed with a man less, but was not enough.
" The Italian could not escape the questions of journalists about Torres: "We must have patience with him, to wait and I am sure he will play better and better. Drogba has performed excellently in the second half, using his strengths - strength and ability to score. "
Ancelotti tried somehow to minimize the removal from the Lague, showing that there is only one solution:
" We have to quickly forget what happened, to get over that disappointment and focus on the championship to get a Champions League place next season. "
