Chelsea, Liverpool and - inevitably - Manchester City had the biggest capital to strengthen during the winter. The most expensive investment belongs to the team from "Stamford Bridge", which paid 60 million euros to take, finally, the Spanish striker Fernando Torres, becoming this way the fourth most expensive player in football history. Cristiano Ronaldo is of course ahead of him in the all-time top. Real Madrid paid in the summer of 2009 about 93 million to bring him from Manchester United.
In the top of the most expensive purchases of all time stands also Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Barcelona bought him for 66 million euros from Inter two years ago, when Real also invested 64 million euros in Kaka's transfer from Milan.
With an important part of the money received for Torres, 41million euros, Liverpool bought Andy Carroll from Newcastle, the second most expensive purchase of the winter, and paid another 26 million to bring on"Anfield" the Uruguayan striker Luiz Suarez, who made headlines at Ajax Amsterdam, after standing out at the World Cup.
More expensive than the South American footballer was the most courted player of the summer, the Bosnian Edin Dzeko, with whom VfL Wolfsburg agreed eventually to break up in exchange for 29million euros. The player, who scored 66 goals for "wolves" in three and a half seasons, has already wore the shirt of Manchester City, for which he also scored in the match against Notts County in the English Cup. Previously, Wolfsburg refused offers for Dzeko from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter and Manchester United.
All four players above who dominate the top transfers in world football during this period are strikers. Well, on the 5th place stands a quarterback, the Brazilian David Luiz, for which Chelsea will give to Benfica 25 million euros. A risky acquisition, say the British newspapers , because the South American didn't have a very good performance in the recent months.
