Chelsea is back in the championship with a victory after the elimination in the Champions League in the quarter-finals, where the team coached by Carlo Ancelotti was beaten by Manchester United. In stage-33 of the Premier League, the Londoners won 3-1 on The Hawthorns, against a team of West Bromwich Albion which raised problems at home on many top teams.
With Gabi Tamas on the bench throughout the match, West Bromwich Albion suffered its first failure from the era of the manager Roy Hodgson, although opened the score in the 18th minute through the goal scored by Peter Odemwingie. But in just ten minutes the guests have returned the results, equaling by Didier Drogba, who took advantage of a true gift given by Nicky Shorey before taking the leadership along with Salomon Kalou's goal, scored after a rejection of goalkeeper Scott Carson, who could not stop Drogba's shooting. In the end the first half, Chelsea increased its advantage at the end of an action started again by Drogba, the best player on the field: the dispossession by the Ivorian's attack in front of Steven Reid was continued with a cross from Malouda's left and Lampard scored the goal with a shot ideally placed. Fernando Torres managed to score his first goal for Chelsea. The referee unfortunately flagged offside and forbidden El Nino 's joy! Chelsea did well though without his goal: they beat 3-1 in the move from WBA.
Few emotions in the second half, when Londoners were satisfied to carefully manage the comforting benefit , which brings them three points and strengthens the last place that ensure direct qualification into the next edition of the Champions League. Carlo Ancelotti's squad now has an advantage of five points ahead of Manchester City.
