  • Jose Mourinho, suffered at the beginning of his career.Barcelona's former president explained how the Portuguese lived when he was Bobby Robson's interpreter at Barcelona: "He didn't even have water to drink!" recalls Joan Gaspart.
The best coach in the world today has a salary of ten million euros a year and a clause to terminate the contract with Real Madrid for 40 million euros. This is Jose Mourinho in 2011. The Portuguese was not always like this. He worked in Barcelona as Sir Bobby Robson's translator, in '96-'97 season for less than a hundred euros a month.

"The day I hired him I had a little chat with Bobby Robson because I did not want to hire a translator, but he insisted, arguing that he needed it. I understood and I offered him a contract of 10,000 pesetas (97 euros) a month. When he heard, Mourinho said he is not able to survive with such a salary", told Joan Gaspart, former president of Barcelona.
