Manuel Pellegrini, returned for the first time at the Santiago Bernabeu after being replaced on the technical bench of Real by the Portuguese Jose Mourinho, was snubbed by his former team. The hat-trick by Ronaldo, Karim Benzema's double and Angel Di Maria and Marcelo's accomplishments brought a categoric victory to Real Madrid in front of Malaga, in the XXVI stage of the Primera Division.
The Frenchman Karim Benzema, Adebayor's replacement in the starting 11, opened the scoring after 27 minutes. Xabi Alonso made a free kick, and Benzema, left alone , scored for 1-0. After nine minutes Malaga was surprised by a fast counter-attack of the hosts, and Di Maria took the score to 2-0. The Argentinian made a crucial pass for Marcelo's success in the 45th minute, Real Madrid entering in the break with a three goal advantage.
The second half belonged entirely to the most expensive player in world football, Cristiano Ronaldo with six or seven clear opportunities to score. The Portuguese managed to put his name on the marking table three times that puts him first in the goal-getters top of Primera Division with 27 goals, just like Lionel Messi.
The second goal was scored by Ronaldo from the penalty spot, after a Gaspar's hands in the box. The guests player received then the second yellow, leaving his team in number inferiority the 67th minute. Malaga remained with nine people after Cala was taken off the field with a stretcher for a serious problem on his ankle, Pellegrini already performing all three changes.Mourinho had the same problem , Ronaldo leaving his team in ten, feeling muscle pains after the third goal scored by the heel.
"I got injured when I scored the third goal, but I'm sure it';s nothing serious. It's better not to take any chances. I don't think I will be available for Sunday's match against Racing Santander," ,said Ronaldo .
