Torres defends himself after Kalou's accusations : " The injury from the World Cup is responsible!"

 After his team-mate Salomon Kalou, accused him as guilty of missing the main title through lack of involvement, Fernando Torres has tried to make excuses for the disappointing developments that he had since he signed the contract with Chelsea, period in which he scored only 1 goal in 18 appearances.

"For me last season was the worst since I moved to England. The injury I suffered during the World Cup affected me and complicated my career more than ever. 12 goals in one year is a piece of cake for me. I have never performed  at full capacity this season, nor for Liverpool or for Chelsea. I prefer to forget what happened. I do not regret that I signed with Chelsea and I am convinced that when this team is at full potential,is difficult to beat.", said Torres in The Sun.

The Spanish striker sees in the collaboration with Didier Drogba the perfect solution to reach the old form:" I preview that together we will mark more goals and we'll have a lot of success together. We are the main opponents of Manchester United. All I want now is for Chelsea to win."

Torres doesn't give up the hope of winning the title: "It's hard, but we have to do it!"

Fernando Torres became a different player after the match against West Ham United, one with less worry and more confidence, after marking his first goal for Chelsea. Chelsea is back in the championship with a victory after the elimination in the Champions League in the quarter-finals, where the team coached by Carlo Ancelotti was beaten by Manchester United. In the end the first half, Chelsea increased its advantage at the end of an action started again by Drogba, the best player on the field: the dispossession by the Ivorian's attack  in front of Steven Reid was continued with a cross from Malouda's left and Lampard scored the goal with a shot ideally placed. Fernando Torres managed to score his first goal for Chelsea. The referee unfortunately flagged offside  and forbidden El Nino 's  joy! Chelsea did well though without his goal: they beat 3-1 in the move from WBA.
Few emotions in the second half, when Londoners were satisfied to carefully manage the comforting benefit , which brings them three points and strengthens the last place that ensure direct qualification into the next edition of the Champions League. Ancelotti warns Torres: "Mark, or you'll go on the bench!"

Carlo Ancelotti has reached the end of patience with Fernando Torres. The technician warned the Spanish that the 60 million euros spent on his transfer don't grant him a holder place.

Although he moved two months and half at Chelsea and played in six games in the Londoners jersey and five for Spain's national, Torres has not yet managed to score. Ancelotti says he needs goals from the striker and he will not be afraid to pass him on the bench if the situation would ask.
"I have many valuable strikers . It is my responsibility to make up the best start formula and do not take into account the amount paid on players when I choose. Do not judge a player after the salary that he has, but after the performance on the ground." said the Londoners coach.
